Traffic Construction Alert – EXIT 95 KANAWHA CITY INTERCHANGE (WEATHER PERMITTING) – On Monday, June 26, 2017, from 7 PM to 7 AM, the Kanawha City southbound exit ramp will be closed to traffic. Overhead and portable message boards will be placed on the interstate and on secondary roads to alert motorists of the ramp closure and to provide them with detour options. Those traveling southbound on I-77 through Charleston will be given the following direction: EXIT 95 TO WV61 USE EXIT 98 This will detour southbound traffic on I-77 to the 35th Street Bridge to access Kanawha City. If they miss the 35th Street Bridge, the next detour sign will instruct them to use Exit 89 to WV61 (which is the Marmet Exit). The Southbound entrance ramp at Exit 95 Kanawha City will be open so traffic can re-enter I-77 going south or going north.

42nd Street Improvement Project Is Underway!!!

The much anticipated 42nd Street Improvement Project in Kanawha City is underway.  An anticipated completion date is towards the end of May, 2017.

The entire 42nd street project improvement project is valued at $198,043.35.

Many thanks to Charleston Mayor Danny Jones and City Manager David Molgaard for their continued support of us in Kanawha City; Chris Knox, City Engineer who put out the bids and is supervising the project; Dave Gilmore with GAI Consultants for design and cost estimates for this project; to our City Council members for their support this project; and to the residents and business owners of Kanawha City who are impacted during the construction phase.  Once completed, we all can be proud of the efforts in keeping Kanawha City a better place to live, shop and visit.

42nd Street Improvement Project has been approved!!!

Exciting news for Kanawha City. The 42nd Street Improvement Project has been approved. See announcement from KCCA Board President, Rick Burka:

I wanted to post some great news. Tonight the Finance Committee and City Council voted and passed for approval the entire 42nd street project, $198,043.35. Bids are approved, and we are ready to talk and get buy in with surrounding property and business owners. We will be breaking ground soon, and hope the weather cooperates until it is completed. I will advise as new details come to light.

I would like to take this time to also thank some folks behind the scenes who were instrumental in bringing this project to this point for us. First, I would like to thank Mayor Danny Jones and City Manager David Molgaard for their continued support of us in KC. I would also like to thank Chris Knox, City Engineer who put out the bids and followed up to get ready for this and who will supervise the project. Dave Gilmore with GAI Consultants for design and cost estimates for this project. Finally a great big thank you to our City Council folks for voting to support this project for KC.

Can’t wait to see it happen. Thanks to all.

Rick
